Defensive and Protective Driving Course:
Kidnapping and Hold-Up Prevention

AIM

To train the participants to defend themselves and to protect themselves from attacks and/or attempts to kidnap people or seize goods during driving.

TARGET POPULATION

The course is aimed at:

• VIPs, that is to say people of high economic, political and social standing
• drivers transporting valuable goods or cash
• bodyguards

WHERE

• In Switzerland at the Safe Driving Centre & Skid Control School at Osogna in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland (about 130 km from Milan)
• In particular cases, also in places nearer the participant’s base, to be determined in the agreement

COURSE DURATION

The course normally lasts 3 days and also includes practical night-time exercises.

COURSE CONTENT

The course will develop the concepts of safe, defensive and protective driving, as well as techniques ensuring control of the vehicle and/or of the transported goods in the case of attacks and/or kidnapping attempts. In particular, topics such as safe and defensive/protective driving, controlled skidding, high-speed zigzag driving, U-turn techniques, escape and/or diversion techniques, how to avoid entrapment in a converging road-block, etc.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

The course is normally designed for a single participant, but it can be also organized for a maximum of 3 participants.

VEHICLES FOR THE PRACTICAL EXERCISES

The practical exercises are usually conducted using the personal vehicles normally used or vehicles provided by the Centre.

INSTRUCTORS

The course is taught by trained instructors with tested professional experience.

ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE

On request, an attendance certificate is issued bearing the participant’s name.

To be determined depending on the place and the agreements reached.
